Get Active

Although the famous Rocky Mountain Soap Women’s Run & Walk is sold out this year, you could do some good and volunteer for this years run. There is a post-race reception, well-being stations and amazing goodie bags for helping out.

Summer sports preparation! May is the perfect time to tune up your bike or to find the best new accessories or (for the lucky ones), purchase a new bike for the 2018 season. Surrounded by awesome trails, Canmore has enough bike stores to satisfy all of your adrenaline needs. Check out the Bicycle Cafe, Rebound Cycle  or Switching Gear for top of the line outdoor gear. Register to improve your mountain biking skills and techniques with Rundle Mountain Cycling Club (RMCC). This cycling club offers consistent weekly programming or weekend programs to suit your needs and schedule.

Mother’s Day

Who wouldn’t want to spend Mother’s Day in the Mountains?! Treat the inspiring mothers in your life with a day in the Bow Valley. Take her to brunch at one of Canmore’s local restaurants: Where the Buffalo Roam offers brunch from 10am-2pm on Sundays, while Murrieta’s Bar and Grill is hosting a special Mother’s Day brunch from 10am-3pm (reservations recommended). Both restaurants are Downtown on Main Street.

After brunch, treat yourself to a leisurely walk down Policeman’s Boardwalk, which offers beautiful, calming mountain views along the creekside. If you’re feeling like a treat, take along a hot beverage from Mountain Mercato, who happen to be offering a 15% discount on any market item after having lunch in the cafe. Post-stroll, treat mom to a delectable treat from Jacek, one of Canmore’s newest confectionaries located inside Stonewaters, where you may find that perfect last-minute gift to show Mom how much you care.

As the snow has made itself extra comfortable this year, satisfy those exercise needs inside. Located right downtown,  The Yoga Lounge and Canmore Hot Yoga offer yoga for all levels. Alternatively, move with Embody Pilates, try out a barre class at WildHeart studio, or indulge in sensory deprivation with a Float meditation.

Whether that means a Spring wardrobe refresh with new treasures from Indigo Bay, Shoes’t’boot, Toccata, Trends, Unlimited, or the new chic boutique Blue Moon or new home decor from Project A, Stonewaters or Alberta’s Own Marketplace, there is something for everyone. Let’s not leave anyone out; make sure to visit the Kitchen Boutique for the foodies in your life, Hi Jinx for the kids and the Mut Hut to find a treat for your furry friends.
