Living in Canmore is like living inside nature’s playground. There are always plenty of activities to be done in the area, such as mountain biking, hiking, mountaineering, rock climbing, and skiing (to name just a few). All of these activities relate to your physical health, but what else should you be doing to take care of your body? Downtown Canmore has plenty of great resources to help keep you charged and ready to head out on your next adventure, and we are going to touch on some of your options for optimal health.
[Wild Heart Canmore]
First up, let’s touch on a few more physical exercise options. Wild Heart barre and yoga studio is a great way to target all the little guys (muscles) that you may be ignoring. They may be small, but they should also be mighty, to help support your larger muscle groups. We all know that it is a good idea to be well rounded (in all facets of life) so why not apply this to muscular fitness as well?
[Canmore Hot Yoga]
If you’re looking for a little bit more of a stretch, grab your mat and head to either The Yoga Lounge or Canmore Hot Yoga for a little bit of R and R. The Yoga Lounge offers a variety of classes from Hatha Pranayama to flow, while Canmore Hot Yoga (hence the name) offers hot yoga classes as well as Arial yoga (and more!). If pilates is more of what you’re looking for, Embody Pilates has a great atmosphere and is also located in the downtown core.
To further take care of your body, there are many healing and relaxation options in the downtown core. Mindful massage, Wildflower Massage, and Etana Wellness are just a few of the many great massage options in town. Book your appointment later in the day if you’re feeling extra tight, so you can prelude your massage with a hot yoga stretch session, or a chiropractic appointment at the Canmore Health and Wellness Centre to get those nerves firing. If you need more of a long-term solution, there is a plethora of physiotherapists such as Rocky Mountain Rehab.
[Etana Wellness]
We all know that mind and body go together like no other, so after (or before) you’ve taken care of the physical, take care of your mentality with a saltwater sensory deprivation meditation float at Float Canmore. If you prefer to meditate in a place of your own choosing, we won’t judge! There are plenty of quiet places in nature around town where you can escape the crowds and take a few moments to yourself. The river is a great choice, as being near water makes us calmer and more creative and offers less stress resulting in increased health.

The main takeaway of this blog is that; in all the hustle and bustle of the Canmore lifestyle, this is a gentle reminder to take the time to be happy, live mentally and physically healthy, and you will perform better at your many endeavors.
