Canmore Highland Games
The first sign of fall in the Canadian Rockies is the Canmore Highland Games, a Scottish 2-day Canmore event in Centennial Park that brings Celtic traditions to life via dance, music, and sports. Did you know that this event has drawn people from all over the world since 1991? Yes, it’s true. People from all over gather to enjoy a pancake breakfast, attend a drum major workshop, participate in heavy sports, explore the beer garden, watch the sheepdogs and their flock of sheep, and shop at the many authentic Scottish vendors.
Tickets are now available for this fantastic quilt wearing & bagpipe playing event, click here to purchase tickets for the whole family today.

Arts & Culture Festival
As the mountains get a light dusting of fall, we know that the artsPlace will soon be hosting the Arts & Culture Festival downtown Canmore from September 16th – September 25th. Besides the beautiful mountain views, there will be art workshops, artist demonstrations, hands-on activities, films, a community campfire, an outdoor artisan market, live music from local bands in Canmore, and much more!

Brewery & Distillery Tours
There are some duos that are just not complete without the other, such as warm apple pie and cold vanilla ice cream. Freshly brewed coffee and the first rays of the morning sun. There’s one we’re missing – an autumn afternoon spent touring a brewery in Canmore and sipping a chilled craft beer. Good news is, Canmore has both. Personally visit and drink one of a kind brews at The Grizzly Paw Brewing Co., Sheepdog Brewing, and Canmore Brewing Company. Or leave the planning up to Canmore Brewing & Distillery Tours, and raft and craft your way through Canmore by booking here.

Biking The Legacy Trail
If there is one fall mountain adventure you must do in your lifetime, aside from visiting the grand Canadian Rockies, is to grab a bike from one of the shops in downtown Canmore and explore the Legacy Trail. Escape reality and be transformed! Take the pathways from downtown Canmore to the beginning of the The Legacy Trail. You’ll soon be amazed as you pedal along a calming and beautiful paved-pathway with epic mountain views along the way.
Didn’t bring a bike along with you on your autumn mountain adventure? No worries! There are numerous bike rental shops in downtown Canmore, along with equipment stores. Such as Rebound Cycle, Bicycle Cafe, and Switching Gear Inc.!

Festive Food & Drinks
Breathe in the musky-sweet smell of fall, listen to the water trickling down the stream, and gaze off into the mountains as you sip on a seasonal drink, a pumpkin spice latte from Eclipse Coffee Roasters, and a roasted pumpkin seed muffin from Good Earth Coffeehouse – two of locals favourite places to warm up on Main Street. Better yet, soak up the remainder of the summer’s sun by enjoying a cold brew on one of the many patios that remain open on foot and bike traffic only on Main Street. Not sure where to eat? We’ve got you covered with a go-to patio guide.

Scenic Hiking Trails
If you thought the trails here in the summer were beautiful, wait until you see the fall my friend. Larch trees are one of the few trees in Canmore and the Canadian Rockies that shed their delicate needles in the fall, cascading a beautiful golden yellow colour across the mountain flanks. This, paired with a light dusting of snow across the mountain peaks, makes fall in the Rockies truly a sight for sore eyes. Explore the golden alpine throughout the day, and return downtown Canmore after your trek for some relaxation and sustenance on one of the great downtown patios.
