From warming drinks to festive cabarets, here are the best ways to spend the holidays in Downtown Canmore.
Warm Up Your Morning
@brielle125
A chai latte is our go-to beverage for the cozy holiday season. If you want to make the most of this delightful drink, Beamer’s Coffee Bar is serving up the most delightful blend of frothy milk and a specialty chai mixture with dashes of cinnamon. For something with a little less caffeine for the children, try a cup of an indulgent creamy hot chocolate to bring with you while you explore Downtown Canmore.
Skate the Canmore Pond
Sharpen your skates and head over to the Canmore Pond located on 7th Avenue at Mallard Alley. The Canmore Pond is maintained daily during the winter months with ice building and patch filling when required. Suitable for all age groups and ideal for a family activity, you can even skate lit by the glow of the street lights and the starry night sky until 10 pm. With an open-style gazebo complete with benches and thermal heating, sip on your hot chocolate as you enjoy spectacular backdrops and an apres-skate with the whole family.
Don’t have skates? Switching Gear has you covered! Switching Gear has a wide selection of skates and other winter sport necessities you may need to keep yourself and your little ones occupied and warm.

Rhythm of the Night
There is no shortage of arts and culture that surround us in Downtown Canmore, and The Carter-Ryan Gallery is no exception. The Carter-Ryan Gallery is home to Indigenous artist Jason Carter who fills his gallery walls with bold paintings and soapstone sculptures that are available for purchase. Also available are limited edition prints and children’s books to make for the perfect memento of your trip to Canmore. In the evenings, Carter-Ryan Gallery comes alive at night. Up until the 23rd of December, come together for a night of music, laughter, songs and sing-a-longs for a festive musical Christmas Cabaret – Fa La La La La!
