What is Happening
Canmore is about to look a lot more like a post-apocalyptic Jackson, Wyoming! HBO is coming to town and will be shooting at various locations within the downtown core throughout November. Residents can expect to see aesthetic changes and road closures around the downtown area that will temporarily transform select areas of downtown Canmore into Jackson, Wyoming.
What You Need to Know
- Preparations will occur Nov. 1 – Nov. 16. You will notice construction activities to temporarily transform the aesthetics of several locations in the downtown area.
- From Nov. 15 – Nov. 20 (reopening Nov. 21), Main Street will close to vehicles from the 600 block to the 800 block. Take alternate routes during this time.
- Main Street businesses remain open!
- Ambassadors will be on-site to guide you to your destination.
- Filming will take place at the following dates and locations: 800 block of Main Street (Nov. 16 – 19), 800 block of 14 St (Nov. 19), the Miner’s Hall parking lot (Nov. 16), and the Engine Bridge (Nov. 15).
- You will see many new faces around the Downtown Area, production vehicles parked along 7 St., 8 St., and 10 St., and maybe even a few horses.
- This production has the support of the Downtown Canmore BIA.

Temporary Road and Street Parking Closures
We know that residents have just gotten used to Main Street reopening to vehicle traffic, but there will be short traffic disruptions to accommodate the production. What to expect:
- From Nov. 8 – Nov. 15, the production crew will construct a temporary wall at Main Street and 8 Ave. They will leave a gap at the intersection of 8 street and 8 avenue and will have traffic controllers to assist the public.
- From Nov. 15 – Nov. 20 (reopening Nov. 21), Main Street will temporarily close to vehicles again from the 600 block to the 800 block and reopens to vehicle traffic Nov. 21.
- From Nov. 15-26, select street parking will be closed on 700 and 800 blocks on 10 St.
- On Nov.16 there will be no parking on the 700 block of 7 Street
- From Nov. 15 -Nov. 22, select street parking adjacent to 800 block of 14 St. will be closed.
- From Nov. 19-Nov. 22, the 800 block of 14 St. will be closed (open to local traffic only).
Accessible Access
Main Street businesses remain open but may only be accessed via back entrances (alleyways) at times. There are ambassadors on-site to guide you to your destination.
We know this is inconvenient for residents with mobility issues. If you require special assistance, please contact businesses directly. We have created additional accessible parking stalls at ArtsPlace parking lot. The accessible stall by the Post Office will be relocated towards 7th and 7th.
Location-Specific Impacts
· Starting Nov.1, Main Street preparations will involve starting to install the temporary facades and street decorations.
· From Nov. 8 – Nov. 15, the production team will be constructing a temporary wall at Main Street and 8 Ave. They will leave a gap at the intersection of 8 street and 8 avenue and will have traffic controllers to assist the public.
· From Nov. 15 – Nov. 20 (re-opening Nov. 21), Main Street will temporarily close to vehicles from the 600 block to the 800 block.
· Main Street businesses remain open!
· Ambassadors will be on-site to guide you to your destination.
· From Nov. 17 to 19 Main Street businesses remain open but may be accessible via back entrances only (alleyway).
· By Nov. 26, Main Street returns to its normal look after the crew dismantles the temporary street decor.
· Starting Nov. 1, the production will construct a temporary animal pasture located beside Miner’s Union Hall.
· From Nov. 1 – 19, select parking stalls in the parking lot adjacent to the Miner’s Union Hall will be closed.
· By Nov. 19, the parking lot returns to its normal look after the crew dismantles the temporary decor.
· From Nov. 15 -Nov. 22, select street parking adjacent to 800 block of 14 St. will be closed.
· From Nov. 19-Nov. 22, the 800 block of 14 St. will be closed (open to local traffic only).
· The bridge will remain open throughout production.
· Nov. 8 – 14, preparations will involve temporary facades and decor.
· Filming will occur on Nov. 15. There will be a liaison on-site to direct public crossings. Expect delays of up to 10 mins.
FAQs
This production was approved according to our standard film and event permitting process. The production company met all permit requirements and worked directly with affected stakeholders and residents. Town of Canmore personnel are available throughout the production timeline for questions and concerns.
There will be horses and other farm animals as part of the production. The animals will have their veterinary certificates and will have handlers to monitor them.

This production was approved according to our standard film and event permitting process. The public and council were notified as soon as possible after the production was approved. All permits were issued prior to work commencing, but as in show-business, things can fall into place very quickly prior to production.
