The Always Changing Downtown Canmore
In the past year to six months we have seen extraordinary change in the Downtown Canmore businesses. We are lucky enough to have multiple NEW businesses join the Downtown Core. We may be a little biased, but we believe it is the best place to be! However, we have seen some businesses leave us, and we wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors. We support all of our Downtown Canmore Businesses, and want visitors and locals alike to know about the new additions. If this doesn’t give you an excuse to wander and browse Downtown Canmore, we don’t know what does!
Hy Five
If you are a Canmore local or visit Canmore often, you would have noticed the good ol’ Last Call was replaced with a new restaurant called Hy Five. The newest addition to the Downtown dining scene – Hy Five opened its doors on January 4, 2018. It has quickly become known for its five-dollar drink menu, which includes the legendary Canmore Brewing Company 16oz draft beer, and 6oz glasses of house wine. Pair your drink with a snack/appetizer or stay for dinner, the Hy Five menu is a crowd pleaser. If you find yourself at Hy Five on a Tuesday night, don’t be surprised when local talented musicians hop up on stage to perform for Open Mic. Check out their website for a full list of events and live performances.

Indigenous Art at Lifeways Canmore
Much of the Indigenous artwork being displayed at Canmore’s newest gallery was crafted using traditional skills that are slowly disappearing in modern culture.
“At Lifeways gallery, the time was right to open and help sustain “endangered” skillsets of traditional cultures through art.” – Rocky Mountain Outlook

Renovations!
As you wander the streets of Downtown Canmore, you will notice the abundance of new business signs and store fronts, but you may also notice the construction and renovations taking place. Rumour has it, that The Canmore Hotel has been sold, and the new owner intends to renovate the building for use as a hostel and restaurant. We can’t wait for the new and improved, legendary Canmore Hotel open its doors, once again!
Another obvious renovation taking place on Main Street in Canmore is the transformation of the the Bow Valley Hotel to the Lamphouse Hotel. With the renovations currently underway, we look forward to Basecamp Resorts’ re-vamped spin on the old Bow Valley Hotel.
